Having A Problem With Skunks? Here’s How A Pro Trapped One In Less Than 24 Hours!

Skunks are primarily active at night and since this construction company is only open during the day, no one knew they had a problem until a skunk set up its home under one of their construction trailers. The offensive odor of this skunk became so bad that the employees could no longer tolerate working in the trailer. That is when they decided it was time to call a professional.
When the pest professional arrived at the site, he met with a supervisor who showed him where the skunk had set up a home under a trailer. The professional started his inspection and noticed the trailer was sitting close to the pavement on short jack stands. The trailer also had metal skirting around its base, so getting under this trailer would be no easy task. Fortunately, he did find that the metal skirting had an opening on one corner, and it was easy to see that this is how the skunk was able to get in and out from under the trailer.
How Did The Professional Catch This Skunk?
He carefully placed the open end of the trap about 12 inches from the opening in the trailer’s skirting. His thinking was that he wanted the skunk to be able to walk around the trailer without being blocked by the trap. He also knew that when the skunk passed between the trailer and the trap, it would smell the aromatic aroma of Trapper Jacks Macadamia Rodent Lure.
To help make entering the trap almost irresistible, he broke one bar of Trapper Jacks into two pieces. One piece was placed just inside the trap’s opening. The other small piece was placed between the trap’s opening and the trigger. Finally, he placed two full bars of Trapper Jacks on the other end of the trap – between the trigger and the closed end of the trap. His goal was for the skunk to pass by the opening of the trap, smell the small piece of Trapper Jacks, eat it, and then walk further into the trap to get another. Finally, with two full bars sitting on the other side of the trigger, the skunk would step on the trigger as it reached for a big bite of Trapper Jacks. The plan worked and the skunk was trapped in less than 24 hours!

Why Use Trapper Jacks For Trapping Skunks?
That is a great question! As you know, there are many who would recommend you use cat or dog food. We’re not saying these pet foods won’t work, but do you really want to waste your time trapping the neighbor’s cats and dogs? The big benefit of Trapper Jacks is that skunks and other rodents love the smell and taste, while the cats and dogs could care less about it. This is a very important point to consider when you perform your next trapping service!
